Physics is based on a number of central theories from which everything else develops. It is therefore very likely that the problems you will have to solve in the exam will be based on these core concepts or a variation of these.

Step-wise guide to learn and master Physics:

If you want to master Physics, you shouldn't try to memorize complex problems. Instead, it is advisable to assimilate the basic concepts and theories which will help you understand the underlying principles and the connection between different concepts

Once that is achieved, you should solve practice questions to apply your knowledge. It is, in this process, that understanding complex concepts and solving the related problems will become easier for you. Follow the steps as under to master Physics:

Step 1: Learn the basics

The first thing that we need to take care of when we speak of learning Physics is the study material you refer to. NCERT is your bible. Unless it is completed, you shouldn’t move on to other advanced books.

Protip: You can also use our Study platform to clear the basics which has study-materials, video lectures, important questions, previous years' questions, etc. for around 15,000 concepts

Step 2: Solve practice questions

Every time you finish a chapter, solve practice questions from that chapter. Solve practice questions from the NCERT books first. Once you have finished them, try solving questions from more advanced books.

Physics incorporates many mathematical elements. This means that you would easily master this subject if you were adept at tackling multiple formulas and problems. Review or study Mathematics alongside your Physics and this will help you to improve your management of the formulas and concepts.

While you practice, mark the questions which you found difficult to solve. Learn the key concept (s) tested in those questions, check out the solution, and revise and practice them regularly.

Protip: You can solve unlimited questions on our PRACTICE platform for free. Each question is provided with Hint and Solution. You can also Bookmark the questions to revise later.

Step 3: Concentrate on important chapters

Once you have finished the whole syllabus, concentrate on the most important chapters - chapters which has high weightage. The following are the most important chapters in Physics:

  1. Oscillations and Waves
  2. Rotational Motion
  3. Electrostatics
  4. Atoms and nuclei
  5. Current Electricity
  6. Laws of Motion
  7. Magnetic effect and Magnetism

Solve questions from these chapters. Learn and revise the key concepts for difficult questions and solve them regularly.

Protip: While solving complex problems, try to simplify the situation as much as possible. The Physics problem you are reading may seem difficult to solve at first but take another look and begin to analyze it and you will realize that is easier than you first thought. It is important to remain calm and try to bring the problem to a situation which you are familiar with by simplifying it in your mind.

Step 4: Take subjectwise test

Take subjectwise tests or Part Tests on Physics and assess your performance to identify your weaknesses. Embibe's Advanced Test Analysis pinpoints the areas you are lagging behind. Work on your weaknesses to improve on them.
